House: Family Room

Note: Blogger notified me that I had 5 unfinished drafts to post, and I noticed I had written these last year when we moved into our house and never published them. Now that all my photos are gone, it was fun to look through and see some of these picts.

BEFORE
Here are the realtor pictures, with the previous homeowners stuff in it.
It was the builder brown/tan color, and the nook was that crazy blue.
It just felt SO DARK when you walked in, despite all the windows.
There was a random cut-out recessed area (by that black desk).

AFTER
  • We painted it a light blue/gray/white color.
  • Got a HUGE rug to cozy up the tile.
  • I'm living on the edge of life and got a white/cream couch with 3 kids!
  • Hung my photo gallery wall (again, the 3M strips!)
  • Swap out my pillows whenever I feel the need.
  • And decorate the media cabinet with the seasons, since I don't have a "real" mantel :)
  • We did some built-ins, in the random cutout recessed area, to store our games.

We did some built-ins, in the random cutout recessed area, to get rid of the odd recessed hollow cave space and add some storage for games, toys, and table linens.

PS: and by "we" I mean we contracted it out ;) -- All the painting and handywork was done by other people--don't get any crazy ideas that me or Jake are the fixer upper type.
