Note: Blogger notified me that I had 5 unfinished drafts to post, and I noticed I had written these last year when we moved into our house and never published them. Now that all my photos are gone, it was fun to look through and see some of these picts.
Ok so front door - love a cute front door. It was just white before. (also, side note, does anybody else think it's odd that the houses here only have 1 shutter for the little windows? California / West Coast thing? It just doesn't seem right to me...)
Anyways, these blues were too much. Can't have the HOA on my back.
Lightened it up:
I like the light blue. It's Behr's "Tide Pools".
Backyard BEFORE:
Here was the back "yard" when we bought the house. More like a patio, but we are not yard people so it works for us.
It was covered and overgrown in weeds and all the palms were taking over and half dead. There is a fountain and some pavers, but you couldn't even get to it because it was all so overgrown.
So overgrown.
Sadly overgrown, all the palms needed trimming.
Backyard AFTER
And no, we did not do this ourselves, a nice gardener I met on the street came over on a Saturday. Three hrs, a truck of mulch and plants later...done!
Front Porch: Before
Front Porch: After
For now, our little table we got 10 yrs ago when we were first married for $50 at the Raleigh Flea Market works just fine :)
This is where I make the girls eat their lunch, sometimes dinner, and post dinner popsicles. Our neighbor has 5 fluffy dogs he walks all the time, so they sit here and Kensington yells from the porch "Hey! What's their names?" Every. Single. Time. she sees him. He is nice and patient, and goes through the roster of dog names and when he gets to "and this one with the gray ears is named Candy" Kensington just laughs and laughs and says "that dog's name is Candy!!! That's so silly!"
BEFORE
AFTER
Black shutters, minty fresh door, trim and woodwork painted.

looks great! I love to see before and after pics of houses.
Love it! Great updates! I would have loved to help you with your yard, but a guy on the street works well too. The one shutter thing is weird. It looks like someone pulled fake eyelashes off one eye. My house has shutters on the upper windows but not lower.
