Day of Mothers, and Such.

Jake is a swell chap, and sent me off mid-week to the spa for a massage and relaxation.  Why is Mothers Day always on a Sunday?  It should always be a week day so you can get away from the craziness and fully appreciate a day off.

My fwind Kelly also does not have her mom here on Mothers Day (her parents are on a mission too) so we were eachothers special someones that day.
It is my goal in life to never smile for a picture with her. So far so good.

She made me these beauties.  Brownie, cookie dough, chocolate.  And some were peanut butter too.  mmmmmm, delish.

Then she sent me this text.

Speaking of Flamingos.
Kensington wanted me to take a picture of her with these blue flamingos:

I got to hangout with my fav college girls.
All I said was "let me take a picture of you" and I got this:

HAIR-DO
When the rats nest returns, we chop it off.  Kensington said she looks like Anna from Frozen (when she wakes up on coronation day and she's all a hot mess):

She still has some pretty awesome prayers lately.
I don't keep a baby book.  But I try and write the funny funny cute things my girls say (usually in my phone or on a scrap of paper I end up losing) and here's a funny prayer Kensington said about her hair:

DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES
I've totally felt waaaayyy to desperate housewifey this month.  I haven't been doing rompers or editing photos or pretty much anything productive, and all I've been doing is playing and napping and laying around.  I tell myself I'm filling up my quiver so I can endure the long summer.

My cute friend Annie does eyelashes, they are pretty awesome cuz then you don't have to wear ANY makeup and really whats better than that?  Cuz that means you don't have to wash your face at night!!! Double bonus.

Don't tell me you have never ridden a scooter because I might force you to ride one late at night:

The husbands think the wives just lay around and eat bonbons and watch tv all day.

We vehemently deny it.

But really it's the best kept secret around.

Maybe it's true.  Maybe all we do is play all day.
I'll preface this next thought with "Everyone has to do whatever is best for their situation."
But I really truly feel sad for mothers who are forced to work and can't stay home.
And I feel pity for mothers who choose to work instead of staying home.

(I know, I know. We mothers are suppose to stick together and support one another blah blah blah)
It has been a long rode for me to fully embrace the lounging around non-working mom thing, but I think I'm getting the hang of it :)

KINDERGARTEN IS ENDING
The school year is wrapping up and Amaryllis had her open house at school.  I got to visit her class room and she showed me all the things they've been working on.  Writing, artwork, their pretty butterflies that hatched.  She was so proud of everything.

It was so odd for me to see her in her element there, she was so at home and I couldn't help but be sad that she has a whole life for 5 hrs a day that I have no idea about.

THIS AND THAT
I have *tried* giving up straight sugar because I feel like I always need a treat at night and it has become an unhealthy relationship between me and dessert.

I think I went like 3 days before of course I had a slice of this cake. Worth it!

Amaryllis had the idea of setting up a clothes boutique for her doll.
Kensington was the dog.

Whenever I want to remember something funny I take a screen shot of my text.
This was a hilarious moment at Activity Days with a bunch of 8-11 yr old girls.

We were doing an art project and somehow my friend Anneli had stuck some of her daughters teeth in a random box, and the Activity Day girls came upon it and had a little freakout scream session.

Also let's talk about Emojis.  You know you have a problem when you are talking and retelling something or reading a text out loud and try and make the emoji expression on your own face.

Then you see this and it's just funny.

It has been really hot (I'm such a wus now I realize) so when it finally cooled off and I was riding my bike and happened upon this sunset, I just had to snap a pict.  So pretty.

A family that iPads together, stays together.
#truth

I love my little family.  I know every mom has those fleeting moments when she comes upon a scene like this and you are just in disbelief that you are at this point in your life, with this many kids, in this house, with this spouse, this body, these things, this point in life.  You feel too old, still young, too blessed, too tired, totally happy, totally over it, everything all at once.

But ya know, I think that brief fluttering thought/moment just means you are right on track and a confirmation that you are doing an a-ok job.
