Flowers, Hair, Swim Caps--Oh My!

I can't believe our 8th anniversary just passed. Seriously? Eight years?  I feel like I'm still barely out of college--how can I be married for 8 years and have 2 children.

Jake spoiled me with lots of flowers.

Lots.

I put them on any available table, shelf, mantle, and counter available.

There were flowers all over our house--smelled so good!  I love pretending to be a florist.

We went to Charlotte.  Cal and Courtney are staying with my parents this summer for an internship at Siemens.  We played all day.  Tennis lessons, pool time, park time, nap time, craft time, and hair time!

Courtney is so cool.  I love people that have their own style (I'm not talking fashion, but you know--they are just confident and have a personality and talking to them isn't like talking to cardboard).  She made this cowl neck wrapper.  This was her first time ever crocheting and she just took the stich my mom showed her, and made this thing up in her head.  This is her summer of domestic learning from Schramma--she's learning to sew, crochet, cook, lots of new things.  Isn't that awesome?

Creative and gorgeous!

Now on to my little darlings.  Amaryllis is just Ms. Imagination lately.  Here she is on Schrammah's deck, picking all the flowers because her Barbie is getting married (in Schrammpa's stolen shoe--he was inside looking for them).  She is very interested in marriage (I think from all the princess shows) and informed me that when she gets bigger, she is going to get married in the temple.  I asked who she is going to marry and she said "probably a daddy."

The whole when-I-get-bigger thing is new and sort of makes me sad, because why is it we are always wishing we are bigger/better/older/younger/richer/prettier/etc?  Why does it have to start so young?  I suppose it is just a part of life, and to be honest it is us adults that inflict it on them--no you can't do that, you aren't old enough.  Don't touch that, it's not for little kids.

The first time she said it the other week she said "when I get bigger and has bigger hands, I can push the buttons" (the buttons on my stereo).  Such high aspirations.

I love how she accessorizes with the yellow flower in the shoestring hole.  That's my girl.

Now we've used up all my pretty photos so let's peek at my crappy phone pictures.

Kensington is a whole new little kid now.  I miss my baby.  You know how I kiss her all the time like non-stop?  Well (brace yourselves) the other day she pushed my kisses away!  Gasp! I was stunned, horrified, and my feelings were hurt.  But then she let me kiss her more and it hasn't happened again.  Let's keep it that way.

Amaryllis did NOT LIKE the swimming pool.  She's fine in the splash pad kiddie pool, but if you take her in the deep end where she can't touch with her feet, she flips out major.  Yes she still wears that ridiculous swim cap.

Kensington is walking really great.  It's still that cute, unbalanced, wobbly walk.  Couldn't resist taking a pict of her during Sunday School because she usually wears her sunglasses around her neck, but she wore them correctly and was just so proud of herself.

And so that Courtney's hair isn't the only one featured on this awesome blog, I got mine cut too. I took a pict to send to Kelsey and my sisters, and here it is 3 wks later still sitting on my phone.  But please appreciate the thought I put into this photo's framing and composition, mmmk?

first, love the flowers! i was thinking if Paul got me that many flowers, I wouldn't have anywhere to put them in my tiny house.

second, KD really is a whole new kid! I cannot wait to see her and Miles running around and swiping each other's toys. And I hope she lets me kiss those chubby cheeks.

third, AV cracks me up. the swim hat, the shoe, hating the deep end.

and fourth, love your hair.

I LOVE Amaryllis's swim cap!!! That is hilarious! Audrey would totally be jealous if she saw it. And I want one of those cowl scarf things, it is awesome!!

Love this post, miss you guys.

Jack punches me in the throat if I try to kiss him. If he is in a good mood he will bend his forehead to my lips giving me permission to kiss his head.

Nice hair! I've been thinking of going shorter.
Asher is the same way with water right now. Minus the adorable water cap.
Your thoughts about wishing we were something else are so astute. I feel like I have been wishing to be something else for most of my life, but I think I've made peace for the time being.
