Nesting

I'm totally in the mood to clean, purge, rearrange, decorate, make, etc these days. We are putting the new baby in the "craft room" that is located off our bedroom. When we first bought our house, this was one of 2 rooms that was left unfinished. We had a dude come out and finish them off (the playroom over the garage was the other room).

Yes, it's true the craft room would make an awesome master bedroom hollywood style closet--think lots of mirrors, shelves of perfectly lined shoes, jewelry drawers, clothes hung according to color, purses and bags lavishly displayed, and a round ottoman in the middle of the room. Some day.

The craft room is somewhat small, has some nice built-in storage and workspace, bright yellow, and has become a total project room with unfinished projects laying around. I must say it is quite fabulous to leave out your projects and shut the door.

We decided to put the new baby in the craft room because Amaryllis is still in her crib and shows no signs of wanting to graduate to a big-girl bed. And I don't want to mess with the risk of her not napping for 3-4 hrs if I switch around her sleeping habits. So we'll use the bassinet for baby #2 until Amaryllis is ready to transition to the guest room's queen bed.

Anyways, here is my quick, inexpensive transformation so that baby #2 (I know you're dying to know what her name is, huh? Well tough.) gets the same cute nursery as Amaryllis got.

This past weekend we went to Charlotte with our friends, because I got Jake Bobcat tickets for his bday. We also went to the Charlotte Motor Speedway and did the tour. Jake wants to be a Nascar driver now.

Anyways, additionally we went to the awesomest store in the world (Ikea) and I bought this chair. I made a pillowcase from some scrapfabric and I like how it tied in the yellow with the black/white.

I wanted to make a sheet for the bassinet and boo-ya. Yes, a home made sheet with elastic and everything. It was really easy. I just looked up instructions online and sort of winged it.

The craft table will now be the changing table and there are some cute baskets (also from Ikea...love that store!) on it. I couldn't resist putting out the super adorable mini teeny tiny diapers already. Even though I'll probably have another 9.9 pounder that doesn't ever wear them--but they are still cute to look at!

I'm going to do black vinyl on the wall, and a funky piece of artwork that I can see in my mind and that hopefully will turn out as cool as it is in my brain. Check back for those updates.
PS: Just realized this post didn't contain a photo of darling Amaryllis--how neglectful of me!
Don't her and Romyo look like "big kids" all playin' outside and whatnot?

Due to laziness, you can see more pictures of our Charlotte weekend here.

I love the black, white and yellow! I'm jealous that you found such a cute chair at Ikea. We went to the one in Minneapolis recently and didn't see anything that cute.

-I too love Ikea and I think I will be making more trips as Macey will soon be able to go into their daycare!!

-Great color scheme and I am jealous of your sewing abilities.

-It's a good thing you're not having a boy or you'd have to buy a new pack n' play. :)

-And lastly, I want to see pictures of your cute belly!!!

Nice work Emily! Don't you love the nesting phase? If only I was always in it! I keep trying to get Travis to go to Charlotte so that we can go to Ikea...but I don't want to make it seem like that is the only reason I want to go (but it is). Bobcat tickets are the perfect excuse! Hope all is well.
