The Playroom is Open for Bizness

Last year we had a contractor finish off 2 extra spaces in our house (1 over the garage which is the playroom, and 1 attached to our bedroom which is my "craft" room for all the crafts I never finish).  So far, the playroom has sat cute, bright blue, and sadly empty.  Until now---the grand opening has come!  Amaryllis is old enough to go up/down the stairs with supervision and she's trustworthy enough to be on her own in this back part of the house.  Yay!

This little kitchen was my Grandma's and I remember playing with it when we visited New Mexico.  I think it's changed hands a couple times since then, but somehow it ended up at the beach house and my mom said I could have it.

I was skeptical at first...it looked like too much work for me and it smelled funky inside.  But I saw the potential...and a couple layers of canary yellow paint did the trick!

Amaryllis ran to it the first time she saw it and hugged it like this:

It looks perfect in this bright little room (you can't tell from the pictures, but the walls are a cheerful blue) & it looks cute with the Topsail Island painting Jake got me for Valentine's Day.

Remember the purple tutu Auntie Meredith made?

Amaryllis found it.  I think she will be a dress-up kind of girl.  She loves wearing things on her head.

Wearing a diaper on her head at church.
If she can't find a hat to wear, she puts a washcloth on her head and walks around with it.  She also drapes a tape measure around her shoulders & puts cups on her feet pretending they are shoes.

And now here is a picture for Auntie Mel, because we both have evil streaks in us since we love pictures of crying/mad/sad babies.

HAHAHAHAHA! I love it! I scrolled thru the pics before reading the captions, and when I came to the last one, I started laughing!~EVIL! Then I read the caption and cracked up even more! BAHAHA! Aw! I love the little hutch! haha! Or whatever that thing is! And when you said it smells "funky", that stank came to my nose... what IS that?! Years and years of dirty grimey kid hands combined with dust? You made it look so cute! It's perfect in her little playroom! I like her messy just-woke-up-hair!

Love it! It inspires me to finish our playroom, if I could just get myself off the couch.
