What a fun 2 weeks it has been with my entire family gathered together under the same roof. No, I'm not saying that sarcastically. It was fun to see everyone.
The first week pre-Christmas was spent at my parents in Charlotte, NC. We did all the normal Christmas things like tons of eating, caroling, playing frolf, opening gifts, playing games, etc. Here are some picts courtesy of Mel's blog.
I must confess, I was not very good at taking pictures. Blaming it on the fact that now I think about everytime I have to get up, how much effort it will take, and calculate whether or not it is worth it. I took a lot of mental pictures though...does that count?
The post-Christmas rendezvous was at the Lucky Leaf and brrrrr was it cold! Probably the coldest I've been at the beach. We still managed to go on plenty of walks and soak up the sunshine in the afternoons when it was warmer.
Amaryllis loved playing with her cousins.
She's going to be such a good big sister because, once again like in August, she was a bit obsessed with baby Gabby and very motherly towards her.
She also loved all the extra sugary foods---like "decorating" gingerbread men (aka--eating the frosting off the knife).
And she must be a true southerner...I realized she had never eaten Jello (yet she has plenty of grits).
Here is my favorite moment captured of the entire 2 wks worth of pictures. Confession: When I stare at this photo, I get a bit jealous. I wish I was a child again--with not a worry in the world--and something like bubbles could make me have this supremely gleeful & utterly happy look on my face. Seriously, look at this face:
(And I wish I could run around and prance on the deck, in the moonlight, with the sound of the waves breaking not but 10 feet from me, with no shoes on. And not care that my socks will get dirty. In my jammies.)Here are some more pictures from Mel. And a video. Checkout the awesome fire-pit Mel & Dean made as a surprise present to my dad. We had hotdogs and smores, then the next night the boys cooked up steaks and HUMUNGO crab legs that were really quite creepy looking.
PS: to get the firewood it required Mel, Me, and Mom finding a house under construction and going through the salvage wood. I stayed in the car as a lookout (again, blaming it on the fact that I was very wedged in between 2 carseats and the amount of effort it would take to get my big belly out of the car was...)
And here is a cute clip of Amaryllis and Rome on the car-ride. Rome is getting to the age where he likes to interact now, and he thinks Amaryllis is just the coolest kid on the block and always tries to copy what she does.

If only she were a sleeping angel at night times! ;) the pictures are so cute...I love how she always sleeps with her hands above her head!
however, we've had a break-through. Since we've been home, we've let her cry it out....and last night she slept though the night!
We had a really fun break....but it seemed so short for us. We wish we could play at the beach with everyone more often.
Looks like you guys had lots of fun! I can't believe how big AV is getting and she definitely will be a good big sister, Macey needs to take notes.
Ok, the pictures of your little flower in the gray beenie are so precious. She looks gorgeous.
HAHAHA! Em! I am cracking up at how LAZY you are! Next time we have a family gathering, you take all the pics, edit them, then I'll copy/paste them onto my blog, k? We'll just take turns :)
