Amaryllis is such an adventure to parent.
We finally have our porch back, after a year of loud obnoxious dusty construction across the street.
And I'm LOVING it because as you know, I am very much an open doors / open windows / sit outside / eat outside kind of gal.
Anyways, she is such a fun spunky girl. Nothing she says should surprise me anymore; she is full of curiosity and imagination. She has a love for learning that is still innocent and hasn't been jaded by too much testing/homework/schooling.
To her, everything is still fun.
Everything is still totally reasonable and attainable.
The defining walls of the adult world have not yet been put around her little mind.
I love it.
She randomly asked me one evening if she could type a story. She said:
"So ummm, mom. Do you know how to get a blank piece of white paper onto the computer? It has a W on the button that you click, I think"
I deduced that the W I needed to click was in fact, the Microsoft Word icon. So I opened Word and she was off. It's so crazy to see how quickly the kids these days pick up on technology. I didn't take a typing class until Jr. High and now, it's not like they really "teach" typing, they just sort of pick it up and have been around technology since birth.
I sound so olddddd!
She also was interested in Origami so we checked out some books from the library.
The books were somewhat old fashion and taught things like birds and flowers, which weren't very interesting to her.
So...she improvised and started inventing her own creations from paper.
Origami slippers, duh!
I was picking up sheet after sheet of randomly folded papers and contraptions for dayssss.
It was pretty impressive what she could make with paper!
Of course, she is still young and we are working on things.
