Maybelle's First Month

What a busy and fun month!  I was definitely on a baby high all month, I seriously can't get enough of this cutie.

Yes, the big sisters are equally in love.

And I'm so glad not to be pregnant anymore.  And school is in session, so I'm not trying to be the entertainer all day either.  When I look back on this summer, it was really fun and we had a great time.  But I feel like the exhaustion of traveling, moving, nesting, being on-demand for kids, and not sleeping from being ginormously pregnant caught up to me (I'm now realizing I just did NOT stop this summer, I was go-go-go up until the afternoon my water broke).  So now I'm totally content just to spend my kid-free mornings on the couch cuddling this little peaches.

But alas, life does not stop even for a new baby in the house.  There I am, 1 week post pardum and I've got a Target list and errands and pool time and shoe wing orders piling up and everything else that the mommy life has to offer.

Grandma K left us some whoopie pies (a pile of them, to be exact).  Mmmm...

Maybelle's first bath was kinda sad for me, because it was something my mom and I always did together with the other girls (I don't know why but bathing a teeny squirming floppy screaming baby scares me so I'd always have my mom do most of the work).

BUT, just as I was getting sad and prolonging it for as long as possible (I think she was already 10 days old before I bathed her properly), I realized I have my very own little helper who is just as excited to bathe the baby and who says just the right amount of soothing things too.  My little friend, Amaryllis!

Kensington is really becoming quite the little social butterfly now that she is in school and has her own little posse of friends.

I was in the carpool line at elementary school and I hear Kensington screeching, hanging out the window waving, and I look in my mirror and see her little playmate screeching/waving right back.  It was so cute:

I randomly found my wedding veil and thought, what the heck it's doing no good sitting in the closet, so I let Amaryllis play with it.  When she first saw it, she clutched her heart and PROMISED she would take very special care of it.

Just like that, it's October!!!!

A few updates from Amaryllis:

I'm learning lots at school!

My babysitter is the best, she fulfilled a life-long dream of mine to have long blonde hair!

I still like to do really weird things like brush my dress with a hanger, in the nude!

As you can see, I sometimes pout and fight with my sister until I win.

 Updates from Kensington:
Every day I ask mom to take my picture with Maybelle.  Every. Single. Day.

 Updates from Maybelle:
I'm cute as a button, and mom keeps uncontrollably buying me new things, like pacifiers that are scented in a yummy vanilla candy corn scent (did you know they scent pacifiers now?!?)

Also, mom thinks I might have curly hair like my big sis Kensington did!

----------

I went to a friends bunco birthday bash.  It was just darling!  Too cute not to share:

And nothing sexier than a man in his white shirt and tie, doing the dishes.  Agreed?

I love him.  He puts up with so much estrogen.

oh my gosh that baby, so cute. And I love that KD always wants her picture taken with her, love it. Could you imagine one of my kids doing that? :)

I feel you on the bath thing, I am the exact same way. Almost got a little teary eyed reading that part. Crazy how much we still need our moms. Glad AV could be your helper though.

Glad you are enjoying the newborn phase, it's crazy how fast it goes by.
