Well it's been a week of potty training and I'm truly amazed at this child.
Of course day 1 & 2 I wanted to give her away out of frustration. Actually, it wasn't bad at all because she simply did not pee like EVER. She held it for hours until naptime or bedtime (pull-ups).
So then I got smart and made her go via a big fat tantrum. It was just like my floaties experience with her (she refused to wear floaties so one day, I took her to the pool when it was mostly empty, and just let her have a good ole fashion scream fest. I won. She gave in and put them on).
Anyways so day 3, I won again. And surprisingly since then, she has had only maybe 7-10 accidents? And non that really "runneth over" if you catch my drift. She stops halfway and heads for the toilet.
I AM COUNTING MY BLESSINGS. Not bragging.
Ok maybe a little.
They are so different. Amaryllis loved the entire thing, went in little trickles every 10 minutes, earned treats, stickers, made her dolls go, chatted about it, we stayed home for 3 days and just learned all about it, etc. Kind of more of a bonding feel-good thing. Kensington did not like any of that stuff. Just put her on the toilet and get it over with. A bribe with the iPad always works too, so there's a tip for you.
So that's that. Cheers to all you who have potty training on your to-do list over the next few months. You can do it! Don't give up.
Here's some pictures from the church camp (girls ages 12-18) that I helped with. It was awesome. And I have to say, after planning big corporate meetings, wearing heals while pregnant for 5 days straight with late nights and early mornings, doing all the 5-star dining and lodging, fancy activities, spas, etc....I really think this is my favorite meeting to have ever helped plan in all my lifetime of event planning. (although gosh...The Greenbrier was a swanky place to be pampered).
I didn't take picts, just a few phone snapshots, but seriously it was a great experience so you'll just have to trust me on that.
Camp fire with 116 crazy girls singing/dancing/goofing - very interesting to witness. |
Value colors. |
One of the crafts was headbands. Totally loved making stuff with the leftover buttons and tshirts. |
Jake texted me this. He always does the fun things. |
Bought the Disney dress-up app, the Disney "water?" app, and the Toggle puzzle app with a gift certificate. They are in app heaven! |
Zoo with friends. |
Just had to document this. Usually it's the other way around as far as the crying and tears. |

Good for you with the potty training. Sam and Bradley wouldn't potty train until age 3 and they still hate to go. I have to remind them constantly or they will go around for hours playing and holding themselves until it's almost too late. I am in awe of kids that like to be potty trained.
Way to Go! I remember Gabby, and am not looking forward to the last kid...Gabby got the better of me!
Diaper FREE!!!
Halelujah for potty training. Honestly, I think that anyone who survives it has earned the right to brag. :) My Stella is probably ready, I just need to bite the bullet and get 'er done already. Tiny panties on tiny bottoms are pretty cute motivation...
p.s. I wish you could have been one of my Girls' Camp leaders. I can't even begin to imagine that awesomeness.
Reading the part about potty training and floaties reminded me of a wise woman and mom who once told me: "just know that in our grown-up world, "winning" and "domination" do not exist in their little world so sometimes you have to ask "am i doing this for myself, or for them?". and in the Christlike Parenting book, he makes a good way of pointing out patterns of Christlike behavior (ie: would Christ stand over you while you were crying/pleading and demand you wear those floaties and go peepee?"
I know you didn't ask for advice, but hope it helps hahaha
