Whenever people watch Amaryllis in her intensive play mode, they politely say "wow, she's really...busy". I read between the lines and exhaustively think to myself "you mean to say wow, she's really...on crack, going a million miles a minute, emotional drama queen, part princess part fairy part elephant, living in an alternate universe, may have multiple personalities and schizophrenia disorders in the near future" and that's just today's list.
The girl can play. She is in her own little world. She talks to herself in one voice and answers in her "Amawillis" voice. She has wings one day. She is a unicorn the next day. A few times per day she reverts back into baby mode and pretends to be Kensington and crawls and coos. Every small task she has to do all by herself at a snail's pace. She's happy and sweet one second, and a complete train wreck the next.
In short, if you have a 3 yr old, you know the deal. If you used to have a 3 yr old and have erased it from your memory, try hard to remember what it's like. Then feel some pity for me and my weary soul. Are you sympathizing with me yet? Mmmmmk, I feel better
(in case you can't tell, she is singing her heart out to Little Mermaid)
But really, I wouldn't have it any other way. I've said this before, but she seriously makes me laugh out loud at least once a day. Do you get a good laugh every day? You should. There was one day last week, where I wondered to myself if I had laughed yet. Then, when Jake came home she excitedly showed him her painted finger nails and totally mis-pronounced it. Earlier that day she would look at her fingers and ask "mom whats this called again?" and I say "we painted your fingernails".
So when Jake came home she said,
"Look!"
[then paused and thought really hard and said]
"We pointed-no-finger-tails".
What?? Come again?? I guess that sort of sounds like "painted your finger nails" in a weird strictly phonetic way.
It's my turn to host pre-school again this week.
Here is how I left Amaryllis when I tucked her in for naptime. A hat, some fairy wings, and my oven mit.
( Who knows what all went on during this nap)
Here is Amaryllis at the childrens museum. Notice what she went straight for:
And she kept her eye on it the whole time.
As you can see, the Cinderella dress gets worn at least once a day.
The childrens museum is so cool, and we've only explored 1 section of 1 level so far.
She doesn't even know there's more to it, so it will be a fun year with our membership.
Sweet Kensington. Now that she is part of our car social circle, Amaryllis and I decided it's high time she had her own sunglasses. It's so cute, this is how she wears them and she totally thinks it's legit:

I LOVE the energy! Of course I have no 3-year old, but if I did I would want every bit of what Amaryllis has! It just means that you encourage her to dream and tell her that there's no limit to what she can come up with.
Also busy equals good sometimes b/c then she can go off in her neverland while you can get something done, right?
I just tell myself that those people with the clam kids must have such boring lives. What they do all I day, I can't even imagine.
The other day one of my friends told me, "You're kids are just so unique and both have such strong personalities." I read between the lines that she meant, your kids are weird, crazy, and very stubborn. :)
But, at least I get to jump from cushion to cushion trying to escape from dragons, or am constantly being yelled at to walk the plank or swab the deck, and I of course am always laughing at every crazy thing they do and say.
Plus, our children are exhausted at the end of the day. You need a good 13 hours of sleep when you're that busy.
Sounds oh too familiar. We are going through the same thing with Bradley right now (minus the wings and unicorns). As I was reading, before I got to the part where you mentioned having a three year old, I was actually thinking to myself "That's a 3 yr old for you" 3 year olds say and do the funniest/cutest things, but are also so exhausting sometimes.
This is way cute. I'm pretty sure I've been a terrible mother lately... so it is nice and kind of depressing to see you doing fun stuff with your girls! Ha!
