As much as I want to post pictures from my exciting 7 day Disney World girls trip, I must contain myself because I like my blog to be tidy and chronologically organized :)
We've been doing a lot of things outdoors this month. We've had a nice long spring; as soon as the heat hit (this week) I had to remind myself that at least it didn't come any earlier. We spend most afternoons at the park, or going on walks/jogs, or laying on the lawn. We water our small veggie garden. We play under the neighbor's "fairy tree" (one of those cool weeping willows). We jog at the lake and feed the ducks. We ride the carousel at the mall. We have playdates (aka mom dates). We put Kenzibear in her lacey rompers and watch her be cute and try to take steps. We met friends at the strawberry patch and stuffed our faces with delicious sweet berries, then brought some home and made jam (don't be too impressed. It's simply mashed strawberries, sugar, and pectin). Yep, we've had fun this month.
Two weeks ago we dropped by the beach house. My parents and my mom's bff were there. It was a gorgeous long weekend. How else do you describe the empty beach, inviting sand, and first warm water of the season?
I think Jake was practically bursting with pride/excitement when Amaryllis ran after him on the beach and said she wanted to practice her surfing.
Jake wore his trunks the first day in the water, but I was totally suited up with wetsuit, booties, and a hoodie when I went out. I think the water was about 65 degrees but by now it is probably total trunk temp. It made me excited for the summer (roomates holla!).
I let Amaryllis stay up past her bedtime so she could help Pawshaw build the fire and have her first S'mores experience. She is a lover of all things marshmallow related, so it was a hit.
You see the stump she's sitting on? Well there is a funny story behind how it came to be there. I wrote it down in the LL guest book diary (well, my version of the story anyways) so next time I'm there I'll copy it and post it here on my blog.
