So I mostly surround myself with crafty people in hopes it will rub off onto me. We all decided to get together. We would each bring 10 of our crafts, then swap so everyone would go home with 10 new items! To add to the drama of the evening, we had everyone unveil their craft one-at-a-time. That spices things up a bit, don't you think? As Heidi said, the anticipation was "like Christmas!".
Clockwise: Fringe flower headband, denim hot pad, funky chunky rings, hair accessory, menu planner, beautifully sewn and colorful composition notebook cover (with pencil holders inside!), adorable cards, ornament, satin flower pin (made by yours truly), zipper swim bag for your wet swimsuits (made out of a plastic shower curtain).
I hosted it at my house and believe it or not I tried THREE new recipes (I'm not much of a baker. We barely got a Kitchenaid this past Christmas after 7 yrs of marriage and I'm ashamed to say I've used it once and Jake has used it like 50 times).
I would link back to the recipes, but I found them on one of those days where I linked, linked, linked, and got further sucked into blogland. I emerged an hour later and said to Jake "I just got lost in blogland" and he (understands) called over his shoulder "welcome back. how was it?".
Like I said, I got lost in blogland and on such occasions I always somehow come away feeling inadequate and a stay-at-home-mom competitiveness that doesn't usually reside in my soul comes out.
When do I get to bake perfect little cupcakes and have perfect parties with perfect party favors all documented by a perfect blog collage?
Because of these crazy baking/party blogs, I felt the urge to do a quote "Tablescape". For those of you who don't know, that means you have to have a color theme, use some sort of scrapbook paper in a crazy way to jazz up the food and overall presentation, take loads of pictures of said perfectly arranged food and post them on your blog so all your friends will think you are oozing with awesomeness.
Am I awesome yet???
Ha! My mom had all the material. I told myself if I could find my white Christmas lights in under 30 seconds of searching in the storage, then I would hang them. They were on top--how often does that happen? Score. Didn't get a picture of the Oreo pops and they were the most delicious thing too, boo. Amaryllis loved everything and kept saying "it's a big girl tea party!"
Well there you have it. I'm an awesome blogger mom! Now all I have to do is post a tutorial someday and do a giveaway. Such high standards to live up to...
PS: I've decided craft/baking/party blogs are a huge time waster so I won't be visiting them anymore :)
**UPDATE**
One of the gals couldn't come but still participated from a distance and I just got her craft. I'm in love with it! Candy wrapper headbands! I chose starburst, but after seeing all her selections I'm well through the bag of tootsie rolls so that I can make one pronto. Then pop rocks, then skittles, then m&ms. Oh the possibilities! If Jake's name was Henry I'd totally be downing an Oh Henry! candybar as we speak. Guess I'll have to settle for a Payday... (hint hint hint hint).

You are SO awesome and I am beyond jealous that I was not there!! How cool! I want to go to a big girl tea party. Everything looked beautiful. Blog envy is very serious, i try to avoid blogs that make me look like a lame mom.
I am so jealous and sad that I missed the party! Everything looks amazing!! You are so talented! Let's get together soon!!
So much eye candy!! If the meetings you plan are even half as impressive, I hope they're paying you the big bucks.
Your party looked very awesome ;)
But I especially love how you admitted to being sucked into the stay-at-home blogger mom competitiveness. It's so hard not to, isn't it? Your tablescape is very impressive.
You ARE pretty awesome!! Seriously- those are the things I look at that makes me feel bad about myself, too! Now you can say you've done it! ;) now I have to get on the ball... Rome's bday party maybe? Except he has no friends... that's a problem. lol!
All the pics look so good!
ps. will u make that popcron next week?!!
Love it! I'm so glad your party turned out. Maybe someday I'll be that ambitious.
Now you've made feel completely inadequate though. I guess I'll go eat some bon bons to make myself feel better. ;)
Yes, you are awesome. Someday I'll have a party like that.
Kelsey told me I had to come check out this post. You are definitely oozing with awesomeness and I now feel inadequate.
That looks like an awesome party. I will have to host one!
