Happy news! Do you believe prayers are answered?
I was dozing in that inbetween sleep, where I had already gotten up and chucked a bottle at the baby, but it wasn't quite 7am yet, so I thought I could lay there a few more minutes.
While laying there, I had a dream that I went downstairs for the morning and turned on my computer. Then I turned on my hard drive. I saw it perfectly. My gray external hard drive with the green button.
I woke up! More like shot up out of bed. "Jake! My old gray hard drive! Do we still have it? The one from a few years ago?"
Jake mumbles.
Run out to the garage. Search through old computer box that we literally *almost* gave to Goodwill a few weeks ago.
I find my old gray hard drive (not to be confused with my one that was still at the "forensic expert" who, since he could not fix it, he had passed it up the chain to an even more expensive expert dude, who declared my last 10 years of data as unretrievable).
I set the old gray hard drive on my desk. Dusted it off. I was too scared to plug it in. It sat on my desk for a few hours and I eye balled it.
Were my old files on it? Did we wipe it clean, knowing we would donate it? I couldn't remember. And I had made peace with the disaster, so I really didn't want to get my hopes up.
I plug it in.
And there, ladies and gentleman, were my photo archives from 2000-2010. True, I'm still missing the last few years from when we upgraded to the retarded Seagate external hard drive that literally melted on me, but oh well...that is 10 years of photos that I did find!
Tender mercy.
