A Day in the Life

So now we have 1 month of school under our belts.  It is good and a bit annoying to settle back into a schedule and routine after a lazy crazy summer.

My picts this month were all just sort of day by day random picts.

Usually we wake up and I TRY to get up 15 minutes before the girls, so I can get all my grumpies out.  I'm such a bad morning person if the first thing I see is a little face staring at me whining about this or that and my eyes are barely open.

Occasionally they squeeze in a little playtime before breakfast:

We've been eating breakfast on the porch because the sun rises over our little mountain right there, and soon we will have a new tract of houses built in the field in front of us, so we gotta enjoy it!

Then we walk Amaryllis and her bestie to school, where they learn the learns and gets the smarts.

And I take the little girls to the Y to workout:

After the Y some days Kensington goes to school.  Some days she stays with us and plays.  By 10am it's time for morning nap #1.  Sometimes we chill at home during nap.

Many times we chill with our bestie buds and the babies nap at either the Bartlett or the Rex home, and various shenanigans ensue...

Like.....................
...me staying home with the napping babies, who are naughty and wake up, but since it's not my baby I don't care about sleep rules so I get him out and snuggle anyways :)

While.............

.................Kelly teaches our young daughters the ins and outs of this great big world:

Or some days she gives us cooking lessons:

Sometimes she bakes treats (eeeek!) and sometimes it's experimental healthy cauliflower pizza, which actually was quite decent (and I'm a tough judge!):

Play time make the world a better place!
And so does playing dress up!
(And wrestling your bff!)

Costco also makes the world a better place.
Except not for me.  I still refuse to get a membership because that place stresses me out.  So I send my errand girl.

Ok, so moving on.  The babies nap, we play.  They wake up, we keep playing.  We cook, do errands, chill, eat, watch Call the Midwives, clean, eat some more (hey, it's no carb so you can stuff your face with all the chicken and veggies you want).

Sometimes we sneak out for a little "business luncheon".  What?? The guys get to do it!!??!!

Here is them having a stare-down to see who gets first dibs (yes that's chocolate coating on the top part of the glass!):

First time in a forward facing carseat, yay we don't have to do the "carseat tango" everytime we ride with friends now :)

Then Amaryllis gets home from school.
She's more learner-ed and more smartest-er every day.

We do homework and reading.

Then it's the best part of the day:
Nap #2 for Maybelle
and quiet time for the big girls.
aka
BARTLETT SPA TIME
(as some friends have coined it).

Don't mock it until you've tried it.
You'll wonder how you've ever lived without quiet time.

I don't have a picture of spa time.
But I do have a pict of my Jamberry nails:

Actually, I do have plenty of pictures of quiet time because the girls have been taking selfies with the iPad during quiet time, and unbeknownst to me, they also create "how to" tutorial videos where they talk about how their toys are created.  It's heeeeelarious, I'll have to do a post about it.

This particular day, Kensington entertained herself for a long time with the toilet paper.  She invited me to her room after quiet time to sample her "wedding cake" that she stacked and frosted:

After quiet time, it's time to run out the energy and the clock!
We vary between pool or park each afternoon, or gymnastics/cheer classes.

A particular unfortunate incident at the park one afternoon:

Then it's dinner and bedtime!  Dinner has been outside lately, because they will just play and play and play in the yard or in the driveway with the neighbor kids.

And then it's off to bed for these little rascals!

OCCASIONALLY
I pull out the cool mom card, and surprise the girls with a day trip to Disneyland.  We still have our season passes, and it's fun to go with other mom friends.  Kensington is finally 40 inches!  Man her legs were shaking like crazy when she went on Star Tours, Soaring, and Radiator Springs for the first time!

Oh, and weekends, can't forget about those!

Saturdays are usually beach days, but the past few weekends we've had parties or errands or it's been cloudy.

This was quite the party, and yes the mom recognizes she is a party overachiever (it's her side business, before you judge her too swiftly!).  Sadly, Kensington has no clue what Star Wars is and so the cute details were lost on her.  And she was scared half the party, but hey, it was cute anyways.

Jake braved the Apple store last Saturday to pick up a new little friend for me:

I'm sorry to report that after 3 forensic specialists, my backup hard drive is deemed unrecoverable.  It physically melted, so they couldn't retrieve any data.
So the last 11 years of pictures and videos (wedding, newlyweds, babies, everything) is gone.  I cried my tears and I'm moving on.  I'm so thankful I have my little video compilations on the web, and this blog!

 On Sundays, it's church!

Kensington is getting used to Maybelle's whale spout.

I love doing her hair like that because she looks like Pebbles.  Or an Asian baby, your pick :)

Kensington is also trying to get used to the Halloween decor, she thinks it's scawey and it makes her "nervous".

Amaryllis is entering the school art show.  The theme is:
"The world would be a better place if..."

She said if "families would love one another" and drew a big giant house with a family inside.  The living room, as you can see in her sketch below, has a rug in it with the word "fag" and "flip" and I asked her about it.  She innocently said that it was just words she made up, like the rug in our living room that has the giant word "LOVE" on it.

Luckily she changed the rug design in the final version!

Ok, well that is basically our September all rolled up into a day-in-the-life episode!

I will try do a webisode from the girl's iPad next time.  Except they give out our address and phone number at the end of every tutorial so I'll have to figure out how to block that from the web creepers! Ha!

The second I saw those leopard print nails, a huge smile spread across my face, and dozens of freshman year memories of you flooded my mind. I love it!
