On the Road Again

I've become a lot braver as my mommy career has matured.  For instance, back when Amaryllis was born if you'd asked me if I would ever ever ever in my long legged life, drive 11 hrs trapped in a car, by myself, with 2 kids, I would probably just stare at you.  Come again? What was the question?

Well I'm happy to say I did and it suprisingly wasn't bad at all.  I think I might prefer it to flying, because at least I'm in control and not at the mercy of weather delays, flight crews, and mechanic problems.  But 11 hours is definitely my max.  The girls were fabulous.  We took our time and ate at iHops along the way.  They settled right in and zoned out to Doc McStuffins (notice my handy engineering skillz on the iPad holder).

We met up with Schramma and cousins/friends in Utah.  It was so fun to hangout.

But before that, on our way through Vegas, we stopped and met Ben/Mer and luck was on our side.  My childhood BFF (actually back then we did BFFE because we were dumb and didn't know "Forever" was only 1 word) happened to be in Vegas.  Seriously SO fun and surreal to catch up with her.  Keep in mind, back then, we never knew Facebook would reunite us again.  Fast forward 17ish years and oh my I felt old and young again at the same time.  There's just something about sharing your childhood with a neighbor across the street that creates a friendship forever.

Before we left I had opened one of my last unpacked boxes in the garage in search of some photo albums, because Amaryllis really wanted to know about this best friend person "when you was a little girl".  She is still figuring out time and how the great big world works, but I think she understands that I used to be little like her once.  She keeps asking me, "when you was a little girl did you..."

We did lots of fun things in Utah.  The girls loved playing with their cousins.  Don't ask about the sleeping situation.  Let's just say Kensington is not ready for a bed, she is a crib girl (for her own mental comfort, not because she won't stay on the bed).

Schramma and the girls decorated Meredith's door with burlap and some leaves they found tied onto raffia.  I added the polkadot garland.  Doesn't it look cheerful? Makes you want to come right in and hangout.

Kensington loves finger play and sing songy things (this was at the library).  Amaryllis has never enjoyed those kind of group things.  She sat on Schramma's lap the whole time.

The cousins got their hair all done up at the salon, while us big girls got manicures.  Sooo fun to watch!

Uncle Ben and his brood:

A drawing of rapunzel and her mean mom.  Funny how she did the mean mom's eyes...even I wouldn't have known to draw them pointed down and a mean forehead line.  She's good!

Car ride home.

Made felt things with my Utah ladies.

Other fun things this month--lots of walks!

Do you remember these cool ladies?  They make me smile.

Did I mention Amaryllis started pre-school? She really loves it and is sad when I pick her up.

Kensington does not like big sis going to school.  As you can see by this clip:

I had a giveaway on my BabyLaceRompers website.  I can't believe these rompers are still selling, but I'll keep riding the lacey wave:)  I traded swag with some vendors, and one of them sent me a J.Crew inspired bubble necklace (aka cheap China knock-off).

I don't think I'm a bubble necklace person but I thought I'd try it out.  I kinda felt like I was wearing a loud clanky harness, to be honest.

I'm not really a take-a-picture-of-yourself-and-post-it person either.  But I had to send it to someone so we could make fun of the thousands of bubble necklace people who have claimed it via Facebook offers (do those obnoxious ads show up in your newsfeed all the time?).

BUT I do like this pict because there's my little #1 fan in the background sitting on the bed, staring at me with adoring eyes, telling me I'm beautiful and that she loves everything about my outfit and asking me to do a twirl to see if my skirt is a princess skirt, and wondering out loud if I'll ever let her borrow the pretty blue "jewels" when she gets bigger.

To that I say: Please don't get bigger.  Just stay like that.  Stay my little friend, perched on the end of my bed.  A constant chatter to my every move.  Let me be the center of your world for a few more years.  Lots more years.  Please?

Clanky harness is the best description of a bubble necklace I have ever heard, ever. I'm not a big fan either, but I have to say! You wear it well!
