What the Princess Wants...

 

So in an effort to keep her party as simple as possible (if you'll recall last year, I swore I'd never do a toddler bday party at my house again), we had a get together at the park for friends and family. Thankfully she chose an easy menu that could all be purchased at your fine neighborhood Target and dollar store.   My kind of girl.  Of course she wanted candy (duh), hotdogs (she's a Bartlett), and donuts (every year so far we've run the Krispy Kreme Challenge on her bday weekend, so she thinks donuts are just a birthday way-of-life).

 

I realize when you take pictures and put them in a collage and present them all cutesy in a blog post, it makes everything look more special and over-the-top.  But I promise it was not one of those kind of parties, and it mostly consisted of a shopping trip or two.   No baking.  No frosting.  No crazy decor.  Things recycled from last year's party or my craft supply.

Except these cookies, which my mother-in-law brought. Aren't they perfectly frosted? And they tasted just as good!  

Kensington was like a psychotic possessive child with all the candy. 

DON'T EVEN THINK OF TAKING IT OUT OF HER HANDS.  

Holy cow. The girl was literally shoveling it in her mouth double fisted. 

But she looks so cute, doesn't she?  

I did steal a camera to get a few picts of my own, mostly of these chubby little fingers (notice the candy already in her fist as she goes in to score another cookie).

   

We made these princess crowns. The kind you always see at fairs/festivals. I was just glad it worked as planned and that I remembered to throw some scissors in the bag, because I was just winging it. Of course Amaryllis had to have the longest ribbon possible (aka crepe paper) because she was Rapunzel.  

This is our rocket. This photo was before the little league baseball team, which was also meeting at the park that morning, descended on me. I told the parents I would charge them for babysitting because I entertained the entire team while they had their parent/coach meeting.  

The exciting part of the weekend was my 2 brothers and their lovely wives drove down from Utah to escape the deadly chills and enjoy the sun (and candy).

 

The girls loved playing with cousins. Except Kensington couldn't be bothered to be in the below group photo: 

 

Because she had more important things to do:

Anywho, we did lots of fun things and had good times together. And I'm glad Meredith took picts :)

   

 

I can't believe Amaryllis is FOUR. It's so crazy how fast time flies and I just can't even think about it. She's so fun and silly and exhausting and sweet and I don't know what I'd do without her.
