Pee-Skool

Amaryllis had a blast at her first day of preschool on Wednesday.  When I signed her up last week, we went and toured the school (the teachers were there getting ready for the new school year) and when we were leaving she said "by mom" like she was going to stay there with the teachers. She was pretty bummed to come home with me.

But the big day arrived and she had a blast.  I picked her up and asked her, what did you do?  She said "I got to be the Leader Bee!!!!" so excited.  All the kids followed her to the playground and she was the leader, and it just made her day.  The class theme is "bees" so there are all these bees on their nametags, cubby holes, hooks, etc.

But I already made my first School Mom mistake and didn't buy her the ugly/tacky tote bag that the school tries to force on you, because I knew she wanted to use her cute elephant backpack.  I didn't think it would matter.
Well ALL the kids had the ugly tote bag hanging on their little hooks and so I felt kind of like maybe I should've done it.  Not that AV even noticed or cared.  But i can see a long life ahead of me trying to keep up with the classmates and the school moms---exhausting!

I woke up that morning so nervous for her, and she could've cared less and didn't even know what was going on.  Jake took her to school this morning and he said he had that nervous "first day of school butterflies" as he walked in the building.

Here's her first-day-of-school photo. She wouldn't look at me b/c she was busy (for literally 20 minutes) trying to put Kensington's shoes on.
first day of school

So it begins---my life as a school mom.  Yikes, i'm not ready for this.

On a seperate note, look at my crazy sleepers.  You know I love watching my babes sleep!

I'm not sure how it's comfortable to sleep in your hula hoop like this.

Kensington sleeps in a little ball like this.

And stretches when she wakes up.  Ouch--diaper wedgie!

We went to Charlotte last weekend and Amaryllis took a renewed interest in Sophie.
She walked around all day with her on a leash.  I'm not sure which enjoyed it more.

I had nightmares and anxiety before Asher started preschool, like I was the one going to school. Funny. And I know what you mean about keeping up with what your child is "supposed" to have.
