Well every time this year my daffodils bloom and lately (the past 3 yrs) I associate this blooming with birthing babies.

Not sure why, but I guess it's because I go to the hospital and am away for a few days, and come home and all of the sudden my daffodils have bloomed. OR I have a newborn to take pictures of in front of my blooms. OR during the in-between years, these little gals of mine are totally in love and obsessed with yanking the daffodils, and I watch them and think to myself "this time last year they were newborns and here they are yanking and pulling" or something along those lines.
Remember this baby and these daffodils?

How can she already be this?

How can a year fly by so quickly? I was wondering today, does time go by faster just because you have kids, or does it go by faster in general the older you get? Answer me that.

It's been so beautiful; we've been laying on the grass in the afternoons and we stare at the daffodils because the yellowness is so cheerful. When there are no clouds, I ask Amaryllis where they went and it's very interesting to hear all her theories and rationale on the subject. I know it's totally boring when people blog about what their kids say, so I'll spare you the dialogue, but really a child's innocent imagination is so amazing to me. She doesn't quite know how to invent huge make-believe yet, so she thinks really hard and you see the wheels turning...where did the clouds go? Her answer is always matter-of-fact, end of story. There you have it. Let's move on to the next question, mom.

I made the mistake of cutting some blooms in front of Amaryllis and her eyes were just bulging in amazement and I saw this thought process race through her brain in a matter of half seconds even though she didn't say a word:
Wow, mom is touching--no, cutting those flowers! With scissors! I have scissors! We can cut flowers with scissors? I thought she says scissors are only for paper?! But look, she's using them on flowers! Who knew! Crazy awesome! Coolest thing ever! Wait, I have scissors of my own! I better go get them and help cut me some flowers! Must get my scissors!
Thus, the above thought process turned into this daily occurrence:

At least the whole scissor thing gives me a few minutes of busy-quiet-time each day, even if I do have to pick up scraps of paper or flower stems.

So yeah, we celebrated Kensington's birthday on the lawn without fanfare or partying. Amaryllis is getting the hang of peddling her bike on her own, Kensington is learning how to get around on the concrete--a very ladylike method of lifting/pointing her toes.

I hope you guys, wherever you are, partake of this wonderful weather and beautiful foliage.
And if you don't have a little cute critter crawling around like this, you should get one...

And if you don't have your very own daffodil-cutter, you should invest in one of those too. But make sure and give her the blunt kid-friendly scissors.

ok, I guess I should cut Miles' hair, because it is now longer than Miss Kenzi's!
I have no idea why time is flying by faster than it ever has before. Sometimes I look at Macey and I'm expecting to see a 2 yr old, but instead I see this real, actual kid. Man, we are getting old.
Emily, if you want to blog about what your kids say, you should. No matter if other people think it's boring (I don't though). It's your journal of sorts - you can write what you like. And someday you won't remember the cute things they say, so it's nice to have them journaled or blogged somewhere for the future.
Ohh little Kensington is looking soo cute with her front teeth, and her hair is getting so long! Love the picture of Amarylie cutting the flowers.
