Busy Weekends Make for Busy Weekdays

We have certainly been busy. Here's what we've been up to:

Spending time at the beach and pool.
I took Amaryllis to a Gymboree "Music & Play" class since the first one is free. She had loads of fun. Here she is enraptured by the bubbles. But I didn't get a photo of the sheer terror that came afterwards in the form of an oversized parachute (the one she's standing on). She was the oldest in the class, and the only one that cried during parachute time.
As of yet, she hasn't really been a climber. I don't think I've ever seen her climb on anything as a matter of fact. She doesn't even climb on the couches really. But she had fun exploring all the tunnels and bridges at Gymboree.
It was funny to watch all the kids line up and roll this tunnel across the mat.

She was proud that she could say the word "roll" (thank you Baby Einstein) & she pronounces it "wole".
Before heading to the beach last Friday, I had to keep her awake and needed something to do for an hour to keep her occupied. We went on another walking adventure.
I loaded up the jogger stroller, parked in downtown Raleigh, and just started walking. Yes, per my last blog post, I was still nervous about walking around. I saw all the business people and kept thinking they were like "hey, why is there some lady with a stroller in our part of the town. This is our turf--desperate housewives belong in Cary. Go home. Snicker snicker." (What can I say other than despite my overall confident nature, I really have issues with this and feel like I'm always going to get in trouble for aimless walking without a specific destination in mind. Working on it.).

But everyone we passed kept stopping to play with Amaryllis, who I'll admit looked totally cute tripping along the square with her dolly in tow. There's just something still adorable about the unsteady way she runs with arms outstretched and wobbling from side to side. She's a showstopper--better watch out for her.

We saw our state capitol building (and paid homage to our confederate dead), walked around the statues and memorials, had snacks on the lawn, went into the North Carolina Museum of History, had a slushy from a street vendor. There were summer camps going on at the museums so Amaryllis loved watching all the big kids play.
All that fun for just $1 to park the car. I must continue to go on more walking adventures.
