For the Beauty of the Earth

I never thought having a kid would make our lives so much more fun. A couple weeks ago, Amaryllis went through a whiny pouty phase. However, lately she has been so sweet and happy. In a way I'm grateful for the whiny phase because it makes me appreciate a happy child so much more!

We've had fresh flowers in the house every day for the past few months, thanks to one of my neighbors who shares her lilies. I saw some hydrangeas in an empty lot by our neighborhood, so this morning I took Amaryllis out with the jogger stroller and some scissors. They look so pretty all around our house.
As cliche as it sounds, it's so fun to re-discover the world through a child's eyes. Everything is new and deserves equal attention & inspection. And the oddest things can provide hours of entertainment.

Here is a video of Amaryllis enjoying her little world--exploring flowers and playing with a rag, cricket, and a pitcher. We went to the farmers market (mmm..the peaches are sweet this year!) and saw all the pretty plants, flowers, veggies, fruit, honey, etc. Simple pleasures heaven sent.

This is probably a weird song choice, but it is a beautiful Sunday morning and I picked it because it is one of my favorite hymns and nobody sings it better than MoTab!

A baby's laugh, a mother's love,
Wondrous gifts from up above.

Pure and sweet emotion flows,
Kissing cheeks and tickling toes.

Sounds of giggling, good times spent,
Simple pleasures heaven sent.

Are you TRYING to make me cry before I go to church?! That was the sweetest little video-- I LOVED it. I can't picture Amaryllis having an ounce of naughty diva in her! She always looks like such an angel!

I just watched it again-- this time with Dean :) Dean liked the part where she ate the paintbrush and goes, "Oooh!" That painting thing is awesome! I can't believe her little thigh roll is disappearing!

Okay, super sweet and you sound/look like such a fabulous mom. I love how you've got her painting on canvas and that you let her taste the paint.
