Labor Day Weekend

We went with some friends to the beach and had a blast. The weather was beautiful. Here are some things we did.

The highlight of the trip was when Liz and Jim saw a fisherman wrangle a shark in front of our house. Sidenote: we watched JAWS the night before, so the shark incident was extra dramatic. And Jake was out surfing while the fisherman was reeling it in. More video coming soon.

We also went crabbing one night and it was f-r-e-a-k-y. Even the boys were squealing and screaming like little girls (don't try and deny it). Basically you just shine the flashlight on the sand, and watch all these narsty little crabs scurry around. And hope they don't crawl on your feet. Ew. Liz and I caught one in a bucket and we nearly peed in our pants.

Of course we ate at Max's Pizza (two nights in a row). It is the best on the island.
Jim was inspired by Egypt & Mt Rushmore so he built "2008 China Olympics".
Amaryllis learned to crawl but she'll only take a few little steps.
Now I'm going to do something totally SAHM bloggish and post a photo of a recipe we tried that Liz found on Bakerella. These were supposed to be in celebration of Jim's birthday.
They look yummy right? WRONG. They were so disgusting. I rate this 1 star or less. Sorry bakerella lady but they just tasted gross and the boys got it right when they described the balls as "sick! they look like bloody meat balls covered in waxy fake chocolate!" We couldn't even eat them so we threw them away.

But these Devil's Food soft, chewy chocolate cookies from Kraft were tasty so we made 2 batches:

Hurricane Hanna gave us some BIG waves on our last day. We had lots of fun.
