Getting Caught Up: Thanksgiving

Well we made it here to California.  But remember, a tidy blog is my kind of blog, so we shall go back a few weeks to keep things chronological :)

My parents took Amaryllis for a few days while we packed up our house with the packers (insert plug for Cliff and his awesome moving services!!).

When our house was packed up and everything sitting in our garage, we went to the beach for Turkey Day with my parents, our dear friends, and my cousin's cute lil family.  It was really fun and I was sad it was our last time to be at The Lucky Leaf for awhile.  Booooo!!!!!!!  And double sad because it was my last time with Heidi since she is in VA now and I'm in CA.  And triple sad because it was the last time with my parents until this summer.  Somebody call the waaaaambulence!

It was a fun trip.  My dad and I built an outdoor shower under the deck stairs.  See the slot windows? My design idea, thank you very much.  It was a tricky situation because you want to let light in the shower, but you have to cover most of the angles from the above decks so you don't get any peeping toms.Always watch out for the peeping toms whilst showering outdoors.

My mom is so good with Amaryllis, who has been going through a-- shall we say nicely--difficult 3 yr old phase.  AV has had a few sleepovers with Schramma the past few months and she loves them, and of course acts like a perfect angel the whole time (so I hear).  Schramma has a super awesome treasure chest, see???  So fun for the kids.

After turkey, Jake and I drove back to Raleigh and met up with Cliff to load the truck.  They loaded it in 2 hrs.  It was amazing (and frightening. and sickening) to see ALL OF OUR CRAP in 1 little truck.  Why do we humans have so much junk????  We said farewell to Cliff as he headed cross country.  Then we went to Charlotte for a couple of days.

My mom took Amaryllis to this Ice Castle at the mall because they had been discussing it for a few days.

She loved the snow inside.

She faced her shyness, braved up, and went to talk to Santa Claus.  She asked for a "barbie dream castle".  Blast!  I thought she'd forgotten about it.  She had seen an advertisement from Heidi's Black Friday newspaper ad that was carelessly left laying on the table...darn you Heidi.  I think you should have to buy her the dumb dream castle.  Haha.  Anyways, she told Santa she wanted it.  Then we started walking away and she burst into tears.  Apparently she thought if she was brave and talked to him, she would get it instantly.  Gotta work on that delayed vs instant gratification thing.

Up next...family photos.  All I can say is: ruh roh.  Should've told Heidi about the whole autofocus concept...you press the button halfway and wait for the lens to focus, then click it. Oh well...it's one step up from the tripod and me sprinting back to try and make it in the photo.

PS: Have you been to Charming Charlie?  Holy Cow!!!  Accessory paradise.

We had an opportunity again to move to Atlanta. One draw for us was your family and parents out that way. I bet its hard to leave your mamacita.

I am excited to read more blog updates. p.s. I find it totally humiliating to pack everything you own into boxes and onto a truck. It really bothers me to have everyone involved see everything you own jammed into a tiny space.
